SOLAR POWER

Solar energy has been gaining momentum in Brazil, thanks to its abundant sunlight resources. The government has implemented various initiatives to promote solar power, including net metering regulations and tax incentives. As a result, there has been a rapid increase in the number of photovoltaic (PV) installations, both in residential and commercial sectors.

As a result of these efforts, Brazil's solar market has experienced remarkable growth. According to the Brazilian Photovoltaic Solar Energy Association (ABSOLAR), the installed capacity of solar photovoltaic (PV) systems in Brazil reached over 10 gigawatts (GW) by the end of 2021. This represents a substantial increase from previous years and demonstrates the country's commitment to renewable energy.

The future prospects for the solar market in Brazil are promising. The government has set a goal to reach 45 GW of solar capacity by 2050 as part of its long-term energy plan. This indicates a strong commitment to continued growth and development in the sector.

Solar energy is a crucial component of Brazil's energy transition strategy, which aims to reduce dependence on fossil fuels and mitigate climate change. By expanding solar energy capacity, the country can reduce greenhouse gas emissions and contribute to its commitment under the Paris Agreement.

At Samba Solar, we have made it our mission to play our part in achieving this ambitious goal by developing and building large-scale solar power plants throughout Brazil.
